I heard Skim perform at Leila Steinberg's workshop the night that she arrived back from New York from performing on Russell Simmon's Def Jam Poetry competition on HBO. She and Pat's Justice had both taken the event by storm. Later, a few months or so, Skim would tsunami into the Wordz from the Street project and make us all realize that here was a talent, voice, and vision that would challenge all of our preconceptions.
